Didn't Austra take second place? I know she may have never logged on but never saw in the rules that it required a model to login. Someone made it a point to send her those specific qualifying stickers so shouldn't she be able to take second place whether she was here or not. Other wise you could say someone who only worked a few hours should not be given a placement either over someone who worked alot of hours.

It is a contest rule that only models who are active online during the contest period can become one of the winners. This rule has been in place for years and was created due to the very situation you described - models who hadn’t been online for weeks were winning contests over those who were actively working during the contest period. The number of hours doesn’t matter; what matters is being present.
